Situated at Markham Moor near Retford, between Doncaster and Newark. We are not far from Markham Moor Services, as you leave the A1 slip road, head for the A638 sign posted Retford.

Nearby, approximately 7 miles North, is the market town of Retford which is on the main East Coast train line from London to Edinburgh. With its Georgian buildings and markets held in the town square on Thursdays and Saturdays, it is set deep in Pilgrim Fathers County and to the Southwest lie the parks and forest of The Dukeries and Sherwood Forest.

In the opposite direction is the market town of Newark, some 17 miles South, and again on the East Cost train line.  It boasts one of the finest parish churches in the Midlands, St Mary Magdalene and the ruins of Newark Castle, located in parkland by the River Trent. The town also hosts the famous Newark and Swinderby Antiques Fair, held six times a year, receiving visitors from all over the world.

The hotel is ideally located to reach many major cities and horseracing courses, i.e. approximately 30 miles from Sheffield, 29 miles from Nottingham (racecourse), 25 miles from Doncaster (racecourse), 19 miles from Lincoln and 20 miles from Southwell (racecourse). It lies 150 miles North of London and 250 miles South of Edinburgh.
